Marketing With Integrity
Marketing With Integrity
What is marketing with integrity? We will begin by addressing the issue of what marketing is. Marketing is the process of getting people to know, like and trust you so that they believe in and buy the product or service you are offering. In other words people buy you. Therefore, it’s important that people hear an authentic and truthful message.
Marketing – How People Get to Know You
People get to know you by the manner in which you appear in the market place. They either research you online, or they read your ads, listen to your pre-recorded telephone or radio ads, watch you on TV or experience an in person contact. In all of these examples they are taking in information, audibly, visibly and kinesthetically.
When people hear or see you appear one way, but experience you in another it’s great provided that other experience is an enhanced, positive, and above and beyond what they expected. In other words when you over deliver on your promise or offering, you tend to wow your customers or clients. It just marketing that makes sense.
Contrariwise, when you give them less than what they expect or over promise and under deliver, you deduct massive withdrawals from your marketing bank account. Some try to avoid this by promising less than what their genuine offer is. The client or customer ends up getting what they paid for an no more. However, the deception of making people believe they received more is damaging. It will eventually out.
Marketing – Getting People to Like You
Rapport is built by sharing common interests or connecting with your prospect in a way that they feel valued. You address the heart of their problem or challenge with empathy and understanding. You resonate with them in a way that they feel you with them. At that point you have a basis for telling them the truth. And, they are open to it. They like you for being honest with them. That’s what marketing is all about.
Marketing – Trust
Trust is last and most difficult. It does not come unless the foundation is built by doing the other two. Fail in either of the above and trust is gone. With that departure so is the opportunity to do business. Nor should one think this is a one time experience. Many provide great service once, to obtain a client and customer but once they have them, they believe that they can relax and focus their time on the next, and ignore the person who just gave them a paycheck.
It is well known customer acquisition costs way more than customer retention. Further, those who purchase once will usually purchase again and more if the relationship is nurtured, respected and appreciated. Add these tips to your “marketing” and watch your business grow.
